Welcome to page three of the gallery. Here you can see images of past work, commissions and sold pieces. I hope you will enjoy browsing.
I'm happy to discuss ideas with you if you feel you might be interested in having a piece made for you. I don't work to deadlines for individual pieces, which may take several months to complete, depending on the size and complexity of the project. Please contact me by email if you would like to chat.

Bacchante Wall Plaque (private collection)The Bacchante were the followers of Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, drama and song. This moulded and carved head in classical style wears grapes and vine leaves in his/her hair to symbolise enjoyment! The piece is decorated with layers of rich colour and gilded metallic paint. |

Michelangelo Platter (artist's collection)This platter, painted with layers of rich colour, was hand-built from pressed raku clay. The image of a face was incised into the clay. The design was inspired by Michelangelo's portraits of 'Sibylls' on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. |

|
Medici platter (artist's collection)This platter was hand-built from pressed raku clay, decorated with an incised image of a face and hand-painted with layers of colour. The design was inspired by Botticelli's painting of the Medici brothers, showing them as angels. |

Reclining Woman (private collection)The female form is a recurring inspiration and seems to lend itself beautifully to decorating the curves of platters and dishes. This platter was made of pressed raku clay, fired and then painted with layers of acrylic colour. I'm reminded of a pottery teacher who once remarked on my fondness for depicting 'declining nudes'! Henri Matisse's paintings provided the inspiration. |

Matisse Platter (private collection)This raku clay platter depicts a reclining nude woman after the style of Henri Matisse. It was bought from an exhibition in the early 1990s. Recently I met the owner again. She reminded me of her purchase, and confessed that when visitors are expected she sometimes hides the platter away in case the subject shocks! |

Matisse Tiles (private collection)This set of tiles was made from rolled out terracotta coloured clay. The simple lines of the figures were incised into the clay before firing, and then emphasised by filling with dark paint. Henri Matisse's line drawings of the female form provided the inspiration. |

Young Triton (artist's collection)The young Triton, half human, half fish, is the son of the mythical god Poseidon, the lord of the sea. This hand-built sculpture in white earthenware clay was the result of a college brief to creat a 'fantasy' figure.

Celtic KingA college brief to create a 'fantasy' figure resulted in this hand-built sculpture in white earthenware clay. This mythical Celtic king is 'Gwyn ap Nudd', the lord of the underworld and the master of the wild hunt. He has the air of a warrior about him. The locks of his hair and his twisted girdle resemble tree roots, and his armour and cloak are patterned like bark. |
